Police Arrest 22 Year Old Man for Murder

Corpus Christi Police arrested 22-year-old Andrew Powell (2/2/1995) Friday at a home on the 2100 block of Peabody for murder.

Detectives investigated an aggravated assault of a 47-year-old man at the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard Wednesday, but the 47-year-old man did not survive the stab wounds suffered in the attack. Detectives identified Powell as responsible for the stabbing and obtained a warrant to arrest Powell for murder. Corpus Christi Police Officers found Powell at a home on the 2100 block of Peabody Friday afternoon and arrested Powell for the warrant for murder. Detectives interviewed Powell and then delivered him to the city detention center. A 16-year-old girl was also apprehended at the same place and time as Powell, but the girl had a Directive to Apprehend for an unrelated offense, then delivered to the Nueces County Juvenile Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a stabbing in the area of 1400 Martin Luther King Dr. CCFD Medics were on the scene and were transporting the 47 year old male to Spohn Memorial Hospital. Medics advised the victim had an injury to his neck consistent with a stabbing. Officers located the crime scene near a tree behind the old police station. Officers contacted a witness who heard a argument between the victim and another person. At some point the victim was stabbed. The last update we had on the victim was that he had surgery and was in critical condition.There is not much more information available at this time.

Law Enforcement Captures Pete Valdez In Oklahoma

U.S. Marshals captured 31 year old Pete Valdez (6/10/1985) this morning in Tulsa County, Oklahoma who had two warrants for his arrest out of Nueces County, one warrant for Injury to a Child Causing Serious Mental Deficiency or Impairment and a warrant for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child  with a Victim under age 14.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives assigned to the cases against Valdez learned that Valdez may be found in Oklahoma, and the Detectives provided specific information to the United States Marshals service. The United States Marshals located and arrested Valdez in Tulsa County, Oklahoma this morning. Detectives say Valdez will be brought back to Nueces County.

Area law enforcement would like help from the public to locate 31 year old Pete Valdez (6/10/1985) who has a warrants for his arrest, one warrant for Injury to a Child Causing Serious Mental Deficiency or Impairment and a warrant for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child  with a Victim under age 14.

Valdez is described as 31 year old male who stands 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 121 pounds, has black hair, brown eyes, and has a tattoo on his chest of the words, “Isaiah” and “Zoey.” Valdez was last known to reside in a home on the 2500 block of Mary Street in Corpus Christi.

The Corpus Christi Police Robbery and Homicide Investigators were provided information through help from the community and Crime Stoppers tips to obtain an arrest warrant for 17-year-old Elishah Trevino (09/10/99) for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Credit Card Abuse related to the victim of a  homicide investigation on 11906 Meza Avenue. 

The United States Marshal’s Gulf Coast Fugitives and Violent Offenders Task Force arrested Trevino in the 2900 block of Rhodes Court at 12:48pm Wednesday. Corpus Christi Police Detectives gathered evidence and information to accuse Trevino with Capital Murder. Detectives additionally charged Trevino with Capital Murder and delivered Trevino to the Corpus Christi City Detention Center.

US Marshals Capture Michael Ramon in Houston

The United States Marshal’s Gulf Coast Fugitives and Violent Offenders Task Force captured 28-year-old Michael Ramon (3/8/1988) in Houston, Texas today.

Michael Ramon was a fugitive featured on the Crime Stoppers Wheel of Shame and was identified as the driver who fled the fatal crash on the Crosstown Expressway on September 10th. Many people made tips to Crime Stoppers, but it was the work of the United States Marshal’s Gulf Coast Fugitives and Violent Offenders Task Force which tracked down Ramon in Houston.

Ramon made threats to law enforcement that he would shoot out with Police rather than be apprehended, but the Marshal’s Task Force caught up with Ramon in Houston, and apprehended Ramon without any deadly force applied. The U.S. Marshal’s Task Force provided images of the firearm that Ramon had in his possession in a bag. Ramon is safely in the custody of law enforcement and will be processed for return to Nueces County.

Corpus Christi Police thank everyone who provided information to help locate Ramon and for facilitating his safe apprehension.

Last Suspect In Shooters Depot Murder Surrenders To Police

The final suspect in the Shooters Depot Murder Surrendered to Corpus Christi Police at Police Headquarters Saturday night.

Twenty two year old Darien Marshall (1/31/1994) went to Corpus Christi Police Headquarters at 9:08pm Saturday night and surrendered to Corpus Christi Police. Officers verified his identity, confirmed Marshall had an active warrant, and then delivered Marshall to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a robbery call at the Shooters Depot gun shop at about 9pm on September 1, 2016.  Officers found a 63-year-old man and 38-year-old man were both seriously injured by what appeared to be gunshots.  The 63-year-old man died short time later after he was transported to the hospital.  The 38-year-old man was in serious condition at a local hospital.  Detectives believe that the incident started as a robbery of the business sometime between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

A vehicle that belonged to one of the victims was found loaded with weapons a short time after the incident at the 900 block of Corn Products road.

Police identified four individuals as suspects in the murder and obtained warrants for the arrest of Truanser Hughes (04-19-97),  Filamir Gomez Jr (6/11/96), Jeremiah Jenkins (2/13/88), and Darien Marshall (1/31/94). Bonds were set at $1,000,000 for each suspect. All four individuals are now in custody.

A Crime Stoppers tip helped Corpus Christi Police Detectives to identify 20-year-old Willie Church (2/22/1996) as the suspect in the Bank Robbery at the Kleberg Bank on August 25th. Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Church and would now like help from the public to locate him. Church is described as a 20-year-old man with dark skin, stands 6 feet tall, 150 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and had a last known address on the 2800 block of Tarlton.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a report of a bank robbery at the Kleberg Bank located at 4102 Baldwin Boulevard at 11:30am on August 25, 2016. The bank employees told Officers that an unknown man walked into the bank dressed in scrubs and with a red purse and possibly a wig and passed a note which demanded cash. The bank employees provided the man with cash and the man left into a nearby neighborhood. Image of the suspect were released to the public and a Crime Stoppers tip provided help to Detectives to identify the bank robbery suspect as Willie Church.

Corpus Christi Police Arrest Two Suspects For Murder of 13 year old Alex Torres

Alex Torres was found in the doorway of his home at 2022 Treyway #78 on the evening of Jan 13, 2015. Alex had been killed by a gunshot wound to his head. Alex was 13 years old.

Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detectives worked the case non-stop, exhausting all leads.

Over the last year and seven months Detectives have continued to investigate the case. Any and all tips were thoroughly investigated.  Crime Stoppers spots were used to try and generate more leads. Although new information was becoming scarce, detectives continued to examine the case.

Today the Corpus Christi Police Department is announcing that they have arrested 2 individuals in connection with the murder of Alex Torres.

David Lee Davila (01/02/89) and Christina Trevino (4/04/92) were both arrested in the 3400 block of Bluebonnet drive at about 6pm this evening.

In the last two days, Detectives received information concerning the incident. Detectives aggressively followed up on that information and contacted several individuals and were able to obtain enough information to acquire warrants for both Davila and Trevino.

Detectives believe that David planned a shooting in retaliation for being reported to Child Protective Services and Detectives believe Christina drove David to the area of Treyway where David shot at the wrong apartment, striking and killing Alex Torres.

Coordinating with the District Attorney’s Office, warrants for murder with $500,00 bonds were acquired for both.

They were arrested about 6pm this evening without incident.
