Corpus Christi Police Detectives want your help to identify an individual accused of an Aggravated Robbery and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, that occurred on March 08, 2017 at approximately 7 a.m. on the 3900 block of Leopard.
An 18-year-old man told Police he was approached by a male who was soliciting money at the Stripes at Lantana and Leopard on March 8, 2017. The 18-year-old male agreed to transport the suspect to a secondary location to withdraw cash from an ATM to give to the man. The 18 year old male told Officers he withdrew and gave the Suspect money, but the suspect displayed a weapon and demanded more money. The 18-year-old male told Officers he jumped out of the car, and the suspect climbed into the driver’s seat then drove off in the vehicle without the 18-year-old man’s consent. The 18-year-old male described the male to Police as a black male, about 35-42 years of age, standing 5’06-5’10, weighing between 150-180 pounds, and wore a red in color baseball cap, grey shirt and green shorts at the time of the crime. Corpus Christi Police Officers recovered the stolen car within the same day of the original crime, but the suspect has not been captured. Detectives would now like help from the public to identify and locate the suspect in this crime.
Detectives have obtained images of the suspect as he approached the 18-year-old man.

The Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to locate a fugitive wanted for several warrants for his arrest. Law Enforcement Officers are searching for 19-year-old Justin Garza (3/17/1997) for several warrants related to narcotics and a warrant for Assault on a Public Servant.
Garza is described as a 19-year-old man who stands 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds, has brown hair, brown eyes, a tattoo of the word “Maria” on his neck, a tattoo of the number 4 on his left wrist and the number “40” by his left thumb. The last known address for Garza was on the 2800 block of Elgin Street.

Corpus Christi Police Narcotics Investigators, with the assistance of the Portland Police Department and Corpus Christi Police Uniform Division Patrol Officers, arrested a suspected synthetic cannabis dealer Tuesday afternoon downtown near the Harbor Bridge.
Narcotics/Vice Investigations Division officers conducted surveillance at a local hotel, when they observed what appeared to be a drug transaction. Investigators observed a 24-year-old man deliver two large bags of what investigators suspected was synthetic cannabis to a room at the hotel and then drive away. Investigators followed the suspect vehicle until Corpus Christi Police Patrol Officers conducted a traffic stop on the 600 block of Power Street. Inside that vehicle officers located approximately $2,500 in cash, which they believed to be proceeds of the drug deal. While officers were conducting the stop, Narcotics Investigators observed Longino Castillo (5-22-1990), leave the hotel room with the suspected cannabis and exit the parking lot in a vehicle driven by a second man with a woman passenger. Investigators followed the second car to the same location on Power Street where the first car was stopped and again had Patrol Officers conduct a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle, officers found and seized approximately 3.5 pounds of synthetic cannabinoid. The driver, Justin Flores (11/21/1981), passenger Julissa Rios (2/12/1998) and Castillo were all arrested and charged with first degree felony manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance (Penalty group 2A).
The 24-year-old man in the first car was arrested in Portland for first degree felony manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance by Portland Police Officers, who assisted Corpus Christi Police with this investigation.

Corpus Christi Police would like help from the public to identify and locate men believed to be involved in an assault on Padre Island Monday evening.
A 53 year old man reported the assault to Corpus Christi Police at 6pm Monday evening at Zahn Road near State Highway 361. The 53 year old man told Officers he saw a fight between several men and those men left the area before law enforcement arrived.
Officers did not find a victim on scene, but witnesses said the group of men took the victim away in a white truck. Detectives are working to better understand this case. Detectives believe they have images of the men involved in the assault and would like help to identify and locate the men.
The men were in a white Ford F-150 pickup truck that had two doors, a toolbox in the back, and had damage to the driver’s side rear quarter panel.

Pete Valdez (6/10/1985) Captured in Oklahoma for a Warrant for Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child
U.S. Marshals captured 31 year old Pete Valdez (6/10/1985) this morning in Tulsa County, Oklahoma who had two warrants for his arrest out of Nueces County, one warrant for Injury to a Child Causing Serious Mental Deficiency or Impairment and a warrant for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child with a Victim under age 14.
Corpus Christi Police Detectives assigned to the cases against Valdez learned that Valdez may be found in Oklahoma, and the Detectives provided specific information to the United States Marshals service. The United States Marshals located and arrested Valdez in Tulsa County, Oklahoma this morning. Detectives say Valdez will be brought back to Nueces County.

Corpus Christi Police arrested two people for possession of a variety of illegal narcotics Monday morning in a city park after the Officer met the couple for violating the park curfew.
The Officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle as he approached the couple while the couple sat in a red 2009 Ford Escape at just before 3am at 300 Beach Avenue on North Beach. The city park has a curfew from midnight to 6am daily. The Officer introduced himself to 31 year old Raul Cedillo (3/24/1985) and the passenger, 33 year old Crystal Perez (9/24/1983). The Officer saw two marijuana cigarettes in the center console and a bottle of Alprazolam pills in the passenger area of the vehicle. The Officer arrested Cedillo and Perez for possession of marijuana and controlled substances, then conducted an inventory of the vehicle for the impound and discovered a bag in the trunk which contained 35 individually wrapped bags of marijuana, more Alprazolam pills, and a quantity of what the Officer believes is methamphetamine with a weight over 1 gram.
The Officer impounded the vehicle and delivered Cedillo and Perez to the city detention center.
Officers collected evidence they believe is Marijuana in packages, Alprazolam pills, and a quantity of methamphetamine with a weight over 1 gram while enforcing a park curfew.

Corpus Christi Police recovered a stolen van in the back yard of a home located on the 13300 block of Hearn Road after a neighbor saw the van on the news and called Police.
Corpus Christi Police received a call at 10:23pm from a person who said they saw the van presented on the news as a Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week which the person recognized as in the back yard of their neighbor’s house. Officers met a 30 year old woman at the home and found a van in the back yard which was the stolen vehicle reported on the news. Officers saw the ignition to the van was broken and the van was empty of the contents.
The van was the property of an electric repair company which was reported stolen from an apartment complex located at 5445 Alameda on January 11th. Corpus Christi Crime Stoppers featured the van as a Crime of the Week because of its unique, identifying marks and the contents of tools housed in the van at the time the vehicle was stolen.
Officers impounded the van and identified the residents of the home in which the vehicle was found. No arrests were made as Detectives gather more information to specifically identify a person responsible for the theft.

Corpus Christi Police arrested three people for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon while Officers conducted a driver license checkpoint Sunday night at Carroll Lane and Gollihar Road. The checkpoints are set up by direction of a shift supervisor when the call volume is low and operated by strict guidelines which include a specified pattern to stop vehicle (for example, every fourth vehicle that passes through).
Officers stopped a 2003 Dodge Ram truck at the intersection of Gollihar and Carroll Lane during this checkpoint and the Officers noticed the vehicle had a strong odor of burnt marijuana from the interior of the vehicle. The occupants, driver Gabriel Antonio Garcia 09/23/1998 (Convicted Felon), front seat passenger, Rene Rodriguez 12/02/1984 (Convicted Felon), and backseat passenger, Johnnie Ortiz 11/13/1993 (Convicted Felon) were removed from the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. An Officer conducted a search and located a loaded revolver in a hidden compartment under the cup holder, a pack of synthetic marijuana and a loaded Taurus handgun where Johnnie Ortiz was sitting. The Officers arrested all three men for Unlawful Possession Firearm by Felon. Johnnie Ortiz was also charge with possession of substance PG 2-A and Nueces County warrant for possession of dangerous drugs. The drugs, guns, and money were tagged and placed into the Corpus Christi Police property room as evidence. The guns were not reported as stolen.

Corpus Christi Police investigated a crash of an all terrain vehicle in which two children under age ten were injured.
Corpus Christi Police responded to a crash at the 3400 block of Brawner Parkway and learned that a 21 year old man rode around the ditch area on a 4-wheel All Terrain Vehicle with his 5 year old daughter and 7 year old brother in-law with no protective equipment. Officers believe the 21 year old man attempted a tight turn which caused the ATV to roll and throw the children off the vehicle. The Corpus Christi Fire Department Medics told Officers the 7 year old boy may have suffered a left broken leg and then transported the child to Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Both children had numerous scrapes on their elbows, shoulders and face but Officers believe the injuries were non-life threatening. Officers noted in their report the ATV had warnings on the machine for no passengers and no one under the age of 10.

Corpus Christi Police arrested 28 year old Norberto Lozano (9/22/1988) for possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop Monday morning at the 1500 block of Ormond.
A Corpus Christi Police Officer conducted a traffic stop of a green Honda Civic at 3:39am for an inoperable driver side brake light. The Officer noticed an odor of marijuana from the vehicle and removed the driver, Norberto Lozano, who was the only occupant. The Officer found a small black tin box with what the Officer believes is black tar heroine and compressed white pills inside the vehicle while he attempted to locate the origin of the marijuana order. The Officer believed the pills looked like Xanax but noticed the pills did not have the numerical markings. The Officer conducted some field tests on the pills and believes the pills are compressed cocaine.

The Officer arrested Lozano for two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in penalty group one, both are felony accusations. The Officer impounded the vehicle and delivered Lozano to the city detention center.

Corpus Christi Police are investigating several hit and run crashes on Shoreline Boulevard Sunday night which Officers believe are caused by the same vehicle operator.
Corpus Christi Police investigated a crash where Officers believe a Blue Ford Mustang pulled into 601 Shoreline and hit a parked vehicle. Officers reported the Mustang then exited 600 Shoreline and attempted to flee the scene when the Mustang struck a black Jeep on the 700 block of Shoreline. Witnesses told Officers the Mustang fled again before it was located stopped in the middle of the road at the 1100 block of South Shoreline. The Officers found the front passenger was passed out and the driver had fled. The passenger was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Officers impounded the blue Mustang which had extensive damage to the front and rear of the vehicle. The Officers have not located the driver of the vehicle, but believe they know his identity. No other injuries were reported.
