Detectives Capture Murder Suspect for June 8th Homicide

Corpus Christi Police Homicide Detectives captured 28-year-old Lance Taylor (11/28/1987) at an apartment located at Holly and Weber yesterday afternoon as a suspect for a murder that happened earlier this month.

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 1900 block of Gaslight Lane on June 8, 2016 at 10:51pm after a fisherman found a partially burned lifeless body of an adult woman in an open area near the Oso Bay.

Detectives gathered evidence and information which led them to identify 28-year-old Lance Taylor (11/28/1987) as possibly responsible for the homicide. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Taylor on  June 17th for murder.

The United States Marshal’s Gulf Coast Fugitives and Violent Offenders Task Force located Taylor at 3942 Holly Road at 4:50pm Monday afternoon as Taylor left an apartment and walked to his truck. The Task Force captured Taylor and delivered Taylor to the city detention center.

Law Enforcement Captures Suspect In Shea Parkway Capital Murder Case

The Corpus Christi Police Department was informed by the United States Marshal’s Service that Gilbert Ruiz (2/3/1996), who had a warrant for Capital Murder related to the Shea Parkway homicide, and Amador Cerna (3/16/1999), who had a warrant for Aggravated Robbery, were apprehended in San Antonio Friday afternoon. The arrest was effected by the United States Marshal’s Service and the Corpus Christi Police Department does not have any additional details to share with the public at this time.  The two suspects will be transported to Nueces County. The Corpus Christi Police Department wants to thank the public for the help and information that helped the Marshals safely apprehend these suspects who were accused of violent crimes.

The Capital Murder case for which Ruiz is accused happened March 25, 2016 and is assigned case number 1603250009. The warrant for Ruiz was obtained on March 31, 2016.

The Aggravated Robbery for which Cerna is accused happened March 25, 2016 and is assigned case number 1603250129. The warrant for Cerna was obtained on March 31, 2016.

Corpus Christi Police are searching for 18-year-old Gilbert Ruiz (2/3/1996) who has a warrant for his arrest for Capital Murder related to the homicide on North Shea Parkway that happened on March 25, 2016.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a complaint of gunshots on the 4700 block of North Shea Parkway a few minutes before 1am on March 25th, 2016.  Officers found 34-year-old Elisabeth Martinez deceased in a vehicle.  An ambulance transported 32-year-old Eric Rodriguez to the hospital where he died on March 28th.   

Corpus Christi Police gathered evidence from an Aggravated Robbery in the 5400 block of Hitching Post Court at about 5pm on the same day as the homicide and Investigators discovered a link between the two scenes.  Investigators from the Robbery/Homicide unit worked around the clock and were able to obtain arrest warrants for two individuals connected to the Aggravated Robbery.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives informed the United States Marshal’s Fugitive and Violent Offender Task Force of the warrants for Aggravated Robbery related to the robbery on the 5400 block of Hitching Post Lane and on March 30th the Task Force were able to locate and arrest 21-year-old Daniel Martinez (1/16/1995) and 18-year-old Micayla Licea (4/11/1997) on the 5900 block of Wooldridge. 

Through further investigation and evaluation of evidence, Detectives were able to obtain a warrant for the arrest of 17-year-old Amador Angel Cerna (03/16/99) for his part in the Aggravated Robbery. Cerna has not been captured as of 4:00pm on March 31, 2016.

Detectives were also able to develop enough information to charge Daniel Martinez with the Capital Murder of Elisabeth Martinez and Eric Rodriguez. Detectives were also able to obtain an arrest warrant for Gilbert Ruiz (02/03/96) for Capital Murder. Both Cerna and Ruiz have not been captured and Detectives would like help from the public to locate them. Amador Cerna is wanted for Aggravated Robbery and Gilbert Ruiz is wanted for Capital Murder. Gilbert Ruiz has been known to drive a green Dodge Ram pick-up with the license plate number TX FHR-2230. 

 

If you know where law enforcement can locate Ruiz or Cerna, do not attempt to apprehend them as they are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who can provide information to locate these fugitives should call local law enforcement without delay. Police Investigate Death on Saratoga Boulevard

Corpus Christi Police investigated a death at an apartment complex on Saratoga Boulevard Friday night.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a disturbance complaint at 5502 Saratoga Boulevard at 7:24pm. The disturbance was upgraded to a shooting while Officers were enroute and the responding Officers found several people outside the apartment when they arrived. Officers saw an open door to an apartment and looked inside to check for any injured person. Officers discovered a 22-year-old woman inside the apartment with an obvious injury, and the Officers summoned emergency medical attention. Medics arrived and treated the 22-year-old woman, but the injury was fatal.

Officers summoned Robbery/Homicide Detectives and Forensic Services to gather evidence and information.  Officers transported the involved people to Corpus Christi Police Headquarters to obtain recorded statements. The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office collected the 22-year-old woman.

This original post stated a 23 year old woman was arrested, but the woman was released without having been delivered to the city detention center pending further investigation.

UPDATE:

Detectives informed us that CDC Jail Booking Jesus Ruben Balli Garcia was booked into CDC late Sunday evening on the warrant for Aggravated Assault. 

UPDATE: 

At approximately 7:00 pm our office was notified that a man fitting the description of Jesus Ruben Balli Garcia (10/28/88) was being detained by Border Patrol agents. Agents informed us that the man had become lost in the brush near the Sarita Checkpoint and called 911 for help. The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) officers were able to locate him. At approximately 10:00 pm USBP officers confirmed to our office that the person they had detained was Jesus Garcia.  He was arrested on the Aggravated Assault warrant and taken to the Kenedy County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives continue to work with the USBP and the Kenedy Co. Sheriff’s office regarding the case.
