CITY’S LATEST HOMICIDE

Offense: Murder, Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon (2 counts)

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 700 block of North Staples Street for a stabbing victim. Upon arrival, officers located a 60-year-old male with a critical wound. The Patrol Officers on scene administered life-saving measures until medics were able to arrive. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officers were able to speak to several witnesses who advised that the offender was waiving a knife around in the threatening manner, to a total of three victims. At some point during the incident, one of the victims sustained the life-threatening wound. The other two victims were not injured. The offender fled the scene prior to officers arriving.

Officers were able to quickly identify and locate the offender near Leopard and Josephine, shortly after the incident. Officers arrested 24-year-old Jarrett McClain. McClain was charged with one count of Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

This is still an active and ongoing investigation and no other information is available for release at this time.
