Detectives Need Your Help Identifying this Robbery Suspect

Corpus Christi Detectives want your help to identify an individual accused of a Robbery, that occurred on May 12, 2017 at approximately 12:30 in the afternoon in the 5400 block of SPID.

The suspect who had a minor child with her at the time of the crime, took several items from the store, concealing them in her purse.  When an employee confronted the suspect, in an attempt to retrieve the property, the suspect punched the employee and ran out of the store.  The female suspect was seen getting into a white in color Ford F-350 single cab dually.

The victim described the suspect to Police as an adult female, about 25-30 years of age, standing 5’02-5’04, with brown hair and brown eyes and wore a Gray shirt at the time of the crime.  Detectives would now like help from the public to identify and locate the suspect in this crime.

Detectives have obtained images of the suspect and the vehicle.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While License Suspended

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to Everhart and S. Staples in reference to a major accident. Officers arrived and observed that silver 2010 Toyota Yaris had rear ended a silver 2002 Toyota Sequoia that was stopped in traffic. Officers contacted and checked the welfare of everyone involved. Officers observed that the suspect vehicle was still running and in gear. Officers with the assistance of the fire department were able to put the vehicle in gear and turn the engine off. Officers contacted the 33 year old male suspect. Officers noticed that he had a blank stare and had difficult time following instructions. Officers developed probable cause to arrest Jason Anthony Prado (02-09-1984) for Driving While Intoxicated and he was found to be driving with a suspended license. He was transported to Spohn Shoreline to be medically cleared and then transported to the City Detention Center. The driver and passenger of the Toyota Sequoia were not injured in the accident.

Offense: Assault That causes Bodily Injury (Family Violence)

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 6700 Riding Wind Dr. in reference to an assault. Upon arrival officers contacted the 31 year old female suspect across the street from her residence and the 39 year old male victim. Officers spoke to the victim and observed scratches to his face, beneath his eyes and on his forehead. The victim advised that he returned home after looking for his wife’s (suspect) phone. The two got into an argument over a picture which then escalated into the suspect attacking the victim. They fell on the bed and that is when the suspect scratched the victims face and bit his right finger. Officers arrested Happy Begum (03-08-1986) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 15000 Northwest Blvd. in reference to a robbery with injuries. Officers arrived and contacted the 21 year old male victim. The victim had a swollen right eye and scratches to his face. The victim advised that he was at the bar and ran into an old girlfriend. He stated that he walked her to her vehicle and was talking with her when a black Ford Mustang approached. A male suspect exited the vehicle and told the victim to get away from the vehicle. The victim did not move and the suspect began to yell at the victim. The victim stated that he was walking away when two other suspects got out of the vehicle and began to fight the victim. The suspects assaulted the victim, took his wallet and fled the scene.  The victim was transported to Northwest Hospital for treatment. A description of the suspects and vehicle was put out over the radio.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and stopped it at 4500 Leopard. Officers contacted the suspects and they matched the description that was put out by responding officers. The suspects were detained during the investigation. Officers observed a wallet  in the front passenger seat and part of an identification card belonging to the victim. Officers arrested John Anthony Figueroa (10-17-1993) and Carlos Monsevais (09-01-1994) for robbery and transported them to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 200 S. Tancahua St in reference to a disturbance. Officers arrived and contacted the witness. The witness advised that they observed the 33 year old female suspect urinating in a lot next to the church. The witness advised that is when they called the police. While they were waiting the suspect finished urinating and then walked toward a subject standing on the side of the church. The suspect then began throwing rocks at the subject hitting the side of the building several times causing damage. The complainant told officers that the building was not damaged before the suspect threw the rocks. Officers arrested Virginia Caceres (05-12-1984) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the are of Leopard and Stillwell in reference a stabbing. As officers were responding a description of a grey Camaro leaving the scene was added to the call. Officers located and stopped the vehicle in the area of Leopard and Southern Minerals. Officers arrived at the scene of the stabbing and contacted the 21 year old male victim. He was being treated by CCFD Medics for a laceration below his left knee. The victim advised that he just got off the bus and observed the suspect vehicle pull into a parking lot nearby. The victim recognized the suspect who began walking towards him in an aggressive manner. The victim stated that the suspect began to yell at him and then punch him on the right side of his face. The suspect then pulled a knife and began to slash at him, cutting him in the left leg. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim was able to identify the suspect. Officers arrested Scott Myles Ocon (02-13-1995) and transported him to the City Detention Center. The victim was transported to Spohn Shoreline to be treated for his injuries.

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying these two theft suspects. They are seen on surveillance video entering the store. They walk around before going to the clothing section.  One suspect acts as a lookout while the other takes a stack of jeans. The suspect then quickly exits the store making no attempt to pay for the items.

Corpus Christi Police Officers observed a gray Nissan Altima run a stop sign in the area of Weber and Panama. Officers conducted a traffic stop and contacted the 23 year old male driver. Officers identified the suspect and found him to have two warrants for his arrest for possession of marijuana and dangerous drugs. The suspect was arrested and a inventory of the vehicle was conducted. Officers located marijuana, cocaine, digital scales, a small container marked THC and a 9mm handgun. Officers continued their investigation and were able to obtain a consent to search of his apartment. Officers located a large amount of marijuana, 13 bags of THC gummy candies, 38 Ecstacy pills, a scale and over $3100 in cash. Officers arrested Jordan Anthony Hernandez 04-12-1994 and transported him to the City Detention Center. All items were tagged at the main police station as evidence.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 14900 Leeward Dr. in reference to a assault call. Upon arrival officers observed a white Sabb parked in front of the location and gave the license plate number to the dispatcher. Officers made contact with a male and female who advised that they were arguing. While officers were investigating they were contacted by dispatchers and advised that the vehicle was stolen. Officers went to  contact the male and female. They were advised by the female that the male suspect jumped out the bedroom window.

Officers checked the area and the vehicle and inside of the vehicle they found the suspects ID with his correct name and DOB on it. Officers spoke to the female who told officers that she had been assaulted by the suspect. She stated that she and the suspect had been dating for a couple of weeks. They went to the beach and the suspect became angry over some text messages. The suspect left in the Sabb only to return a short time later and pound on the door. The victim let the suspect in and a physical altercation ensued. The suspect grabbed her by the arms and then began choking her. The victim had bruising to her arms and redness around her neck. Officers located the suspect down the street and brought back to the scene. Officers arrested David Gonzalez (09-15-1982) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to 3500 Pecan Drive in reference a disturbance in progress. Officers arrived and made contact with the 28 year old male victim. He stated that he was assaulted by his wife during a argument. The victim had redness to his lip and a cut on the inside of his mouth. The victim stated that he was arguing with his wife because she wanted to leave with his son and she had been drinking. The victim did not want her to drive intoxicated with his son in the car. Officers contacted the female suspect who had a strong odor of a intoxicating beverage about her breath. During the investigation the suspect was making statements of wanting to leave. Officers arrested Ariel Canales (06-18-1990) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

A Corpus Christi Police Officer was patrolling in the area of Cleo Street and Morgan Ave. when he observed a dark colored 4-door vehicle with its headlight out. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle began to accelerate away from the officer. As the officer was following the vehicle he observed the vehicle to be swerving all over the road. The vehicle ran a stop light and came to a stop at a dead end at Hospital Blvd. and Baylor Street. The driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The officer gave chase and caught up to the suspect and took him to the ground. The suspect began to struggle with the officer but was soon taken into custody. The officer walked the suspect back to the vehicle. The officer observed the suspect to be steady in his feet and have an strong odor of an intoxicating beverage about his breath. During the investigation the officer discovered that the vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was impounded and officers arrested Patrick Zamora (11-16-1986) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PATROL REPORT MAY 01, 2017

Offense:  Injury to a Child/Assault

Several units responded to the 3800 block of Caravelle in reference to a large fight. Upon arrival and through the investigation, it was determined that an 18-year-old victim left her infant in the care of her roommate, Offender Florencia Gonzalez (12/13/1997).  Gonzalez became upset with the victim and when the 18-year-old victim arrived home there was a confrontation.  A second Offender, Teresa Gonzalez (12/29/1994) became involved in the dispute along with another male, who all began to assault the 18-year-old victim.  During the assault the 18-year-old victim was knocked to the ground, while holding her baby.  The baby fell out of the 18-year-old victims  arms and landed face down.  There 18-year-old sustained minor injuries and the infant child did not have any visible injuries.  Both Offenders were arrested and charged with Injury to a Child (3rd Felony) and Assault Causes Bodily Injury (Class A Misdemeanor).

Corpus Christi Police responded to the 700 block of 12th Street for a Robbery.  The victim advised that he went to the Stripes at Brownlee and Agnes to retrieve money from the ATM.  The victim stated that as he was walking home he was approached by 3 Hispanic males who initially asked him for a cigarette but then became aggressive and began assaulting him.  The suspects took the victim’s wallet containing $400 cash.

Offense:  Aggravated Assault W/Deadly Weapon, Theft of Firearm, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Mueller reference shots fired. Upon arrival, units observed several bullet casings and obtained a suspect vehicle description.  Additional Officers in the area observed the suspect vehicle and were able to stop and detain the drivers.  Offenders Joe Banda (07/16/87) and Julian Salas (07/10/1989) were discovered to be in possession of a stolen firearm which matched the caliber of the firearm used in the drive-by.  Banda was arrested for Theft of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Salas was arrested for Theft of a Firearm.    Additional charges for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon are pending.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to the 3100 block of Peachtree for a report of an aggravated Robbery. Upon arrival, Officers were advised by the 18-year-old victim that he was robbed at his front door by three hispanic males wearing masks and black hoodies.  The victim advised that all three exhibited handguns during the Robbery and that he feared for his safety.  The 18-year-old male advised that his wallet along with the contents were taken.  The male did not sustain any injuries during the commission of the Robbery.

Corpus Christi Police Officers observed a pickup traveling with no headlights near the intersection of Airport/Santa Elena.  Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, noting that the vehicle refused to stop.  The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 1000 block of Mendoza, at which point the driver exited the vehicle and a short foot pursuit ensued.  Officers took Cosme Zapata (10/15/1967) into custody and discovered that Zapata had run because he had an active warrant for a parole violation.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 4300 Kostoryz Rd. in reference to a disturbance in progress. Upon arrival officers contacted the 23 year old female victim. Officers observed the victim to visibly upset and to have dried blood on her left arm. The victim told officers that she was asleep when she awoke by a loud bang. At about 1:30 AM as she sat up in her bed the victim heard glass break inside her spare bedroom. The victim opened her bedroom door and recognized the 20 year old male suspect inside her residence. The suspect was wearing blue jeans and no shirt. The victim asked the suspect what he was doing there and the suspect began making his way to her bedroom. The victim tried to call 911 but was pushed to the bed. The suspect got on top of the victim and tried to grab her phone which prevented her from calling 911. The victim stated that she feared for her life and pleaded with the suspect not to hurt her. The victim stated she was able to talk with the suspect and calm him down. The suspect went into the bathroom to wash the blood off himself. The victim used this opportunity to call 911. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. The victim advised that she only knew the suspect for a short period of time and did not have a relationship with him.

Officers noticed blood in the victim, on the pillows of the bed and in the bathroom sink. As officers were taking pictures of the crime scene, one officer noticed something outside and made eye contact with the suspect who matched the victims description. The officer called out to suspect by name and the suspect took off running. Officers gave chase telling the suspect to stop. The suspect kept running and after three failed attempts to get over fences, he was taken into custody. Officers arrested Silverio Hernandez (03-06-1997) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers  responded to a call to 1000 Sheppard in reference to an attempted robbery. Officers arrived and made contact with the 67 year old male victim. The victim advised that he works the night shift and he just got home. The victim stated that he was reading the paper in his car when two young males wearing black hooodies approached his vehicle from behind. One suspect went to the drivers side and the other went to the passengers side door. The suspect on the drivers side door displayed a gun and demanded his wallet and money. The victim told the suspect that he did not have any money. The suspect on the passenger side door got mad and starting  cussing and using racial slurs towards the victim. The victim told the suspect that there was no need to talk to him in a vulgar manner. The suspects kept demanding money until they realized they were not going to get anything from the victim. The suspects left the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured.

Corpus Christi Police Offices were dispatched to the Harbor Bridge for a vehicle driving the wrong way (Northbound In the Southbound Lane). Officers arrived in the area and observed a Port of Corpus Christi Police Officer to have the suspect vehicle stopped in the southbound lane of the causeway. Officers made the U-turn and went to assist the officer. The Port PD officer stated that he was making his rounds and was coming back into the city when he observed the vehicle traveling the wrong way. The officer then stopped the vehicle to investigate. A CCPD officer made contact with the 44 year old female driver. The officer could detect an odor of an intoxicating beverage about her breath and other signs of intoxication. The officer walked the suspect to his unit to transport her to a safer place to further investigate the incident. As the officer was walking the suspect he had to hold her arm because she was unsteady on her feet. The officers continued the investigation and developed enough probable cause to arrest the suspect for DWI. The officers conducted a search incident to arrest and discovered a pill and marijuana in her purse. The officer arrested Shannon Falkenburg (11-14-1972) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Deadly Conduct-Discharging a Firearm

Corpus Christ Police officers responded to the Modern Motel at 3400 SPID in reference to a disturbance in progress involving shots fired. Officers arrived and were advised by an employee that the suspect was inside one of the rooms. Officers surrounded the room to prevent the suspects escape and began evacuating rooms near the suspects room.

Officers asked the employee what happened prior to calling 911. The employee stated that he was cleaning rooms after checkout time. He was cleaning the room that the suspect was in and put his belongings in a bag. As he was cleaning he observed the suspect drive up to the location in a black Cadillac. The employee gave the suspect his property and observed the suspect enter the room. The employee stated he was told by management to have the suspect leave the room since it was past checkout time. The employee knocked on the door several times with no response from the suspect. The employee tried to unlock the door but was unsuccessful because the room was locked from the inside. The employee stated that he told the suspect that he was going to call the cops. As the employee was walking away he heard 6-7 shots coming from the room. The employee took cover and called the police.

Officers on the scene continued to evacuate rooms. Officers continued to watch the suspects room and at approximately 12:40 PM, the suspect exited the room naked and was taken into custody without incident. Officers cleared the suspects room and observed a small semi automatic pistol on the bed, several bullet holes in the bathroom door and one bullet hole in the wall. Officers arrested Daniel Leal III (03-10-1980) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Theft, Fraud Use and Possession of Identifying Information

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 4100 Cross River Drive in reference suspicious activity. Officers contacted the 64 year old female witness who advised that her 24 year old granddaughter  woke her up at approximately 9:00 AM regarding Easter Presents. The suspect gave the witness a box wrapped containing Pampered Chef items. The witness questioned where the gifts came from and was told by her husband that the suspect took the items from the neighborhood. He also advised her that there was evidence in the trash can. The witness stated that the suspect had a check and pants that did not belong to her. Officers spoke to the suspect and determined that she had taken the items during the night. Officers located numerous pieces of mail, some was returned to the owners and the other was tagged as evidence. Officers arrested Kassandra Orr (05-26-1992) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Theft, Resisting Arrest

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the Walmart at 6101 Saratoga Blvd. in reference to a theft in progress. Officers were advised that a female suspect tried to leave the store with over $1000 worth of stolen items. The call also advised that the suspect left her car keys and was sitting in a silver Volkswagon Jetta in the parking lot. Officers arrived and located the suspects vehicle in the parking lot. Offices observed the suspect to be holding a screwdriver. The suspect was ordered to put the screwdriver down and exit the vehicle. The suspect put the screwdriver down but refused to exit the vehicle. After a brief struggle with officers the suspect was removed from the vehicle and detained.

Officers contacted the reporting party (loss prevention personnel), who advised that the suspect was observed going into the electronics department selecting numerous DVD’s and placing them into a basket. The suspect then went to the hardware section and put the items in personal shopping bags. The suspect walked past the registers and was confronted by loss prevention. She was asked to stop to which she replied “No!” and left the store, leaving the DVD’s and her keys. Officers arrested Veronica Quiroz (11-22-1981) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

Offense: Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon
Fleeing From a Police Officer

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a call in reference to a stabbing with injuries in the 900 block of Lexington Ave. An officer arrived and made contact with the 41 year old male victim who was in the middle of the street. The victim advised that the suspect was driving away and pointed at a black vehicle driving away. An officer went after the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The officer activated the overhead lights and the suspect vehicle continued driving running stop signs until finally coming to a stop on Dempsey Street. The 55 year old female suspect was taken into custody and returned to the scene of the stabbing.

The victim advised that he and the suspect are going through a divorce and were trying to work things out. He stated that the suspect appeared to have been drinking and the situation escalated. The victim advised that he had a female friend inside his residence and went inside to avoid the confrontation. The victim stated that he heard the suspect near the side of the dining room. He confronted her with the intention of getting her out of the house. The victim stated that he noticed the suspect raise her right arm and then swing it in a downward motion stabbing the victim in the left arm. The victim wrapped his arm in a towel as the suspect left the scene.

Officers located the knife and tagged it as evidence and impounded the vehicle. Officers arrested Phyllis Thompson (03-11-1962) and transported her to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 5900 Ayers Street in reference shots fired in the area. As officers were checking the area they contacted a female who advised them her father had shot a gun in the backyard. Officers contacted and detained the 58 year old male suspect. He displayed signs of intoxication and did not know that firing the gun in the backyard was illegal.  The officers located the handgun in the apartment and 5 spent casings in the back yard. Officers arrested Byron Edwards (03-09-1959) and transported him to the City Detention Center.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a robbery that just occurred at the Whataburger on the 5100 block of Weber Rd. Officers arrived and separated the witnesses. The information the officers received was that the suspect came into the restaurant demanding money. The male teller advised that the suspect began pounding his fists on the counter demanding money and threatened to kill the employee if he did not give him the money. The employee feared the suspect might have a weapon because he was fumbling around with something under his hoodie. The employee opened the drawer and the suspect reached over the counter to grab the money. As the suspect was grabbing the money the employee pepper sprayed the suspect. The suspect ran out the doors and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as possibly a Hispanic male approximately 18-26 years old. He was wearing a pink colored zip up styled hoodie, light colored jeans and hospital style mask over part of his face. The suspect fled towards the Subway restaurant on the other side of the street with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured during this robbery.

Two males were taken into custody early Saturday morning for a series of robberies that began on Friday night at approximately 10:24 PM, ending when they were captured by Corpus Christi Police at approximately 12:18 AM.

Corpus Christi Police responded to several complaints of two Hispanic Males, displaying a handgun, while threatening and demanding money from victims in various locations throughout the city.  It should be noted that in two of the incidents a handgun was fired, placing the victims in further fear.  The last victim in this string of robberies was able to provide a description of the males, along with a license plate of the vehicle used by the Offenders.  Officers were then able to locate the vehicle, which is described as a white in color 4-door Nissan Altima.

The Offenders attempted to evade from Officers in the noted vehicle and later on foot.

Both males, Antonio Aguilera (10/18/97) and Elijah Cantu (09/23/83) were apprehended by Corpus Christi Police Officers and were later identified by victims through field Identification.

Aguilera was charged with Evading in a Vehicle and both Aguliera and Cantu were charged with Aggravated Robbery, two counts of Possession of a Control Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Evading on Foot, Resisting Arrest and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

Corpus Christi Police arrested Mauricio Martinez (04/05/88) for Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon after Officers investigated a stabbing at a Bar.

Corpus Christi Police Officers initially responded to 4650 Kostoryz, reference a report of a stabbing.  Upon arrival, they discovered a 41-year-old male who had sustained 2 severe lacerations to his arm and torso.  Officers administered critical first aid by applying a tourniquet to the male, at which point Medics arrived to further treat the victim.  The 41-year-old male advised that he was attempting to break up a scuffle in the parking lot, when he was stabbed by an unknown male.

Through the investigation Officers followed up on leads that led them to the 700 block of Villa, where they arrested Martinez for Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon.

Offense: Criminally Negligent Homicide

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Vaky, reference a 2-year-old child with a gunshot wound to the facial area. Officers arrived shortly after CCFD Medics, who were on scene providing critical care to the child.  The 2-year-old child was transported to Christus Spohn Memorial to be treated, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Father, Eric Morales (09/01/94), was not on scene at the time of the shooting.  Morales later arrived at the Hospital where he was notified of the child’s passing.  Morales was later interviewed by Detectives who identified enough probable cause to arrest and charge Morales with Criminally Negligent Homicide.  Morales was then transported to the City Detention Center without incident.

Corpus Christi Police Officers responded to a major traffic accident.  A Grey Ford Mustang being driven by a 24-year-old male, was described to be traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic, according to witnesses. The 24-year-old male struck a Jeep Wrangler, causing minor injuries to that driver.  The driver of the mustang then lost control, striking a Ford Explorer, who then hit a GMC Canyon.  The Mustang then began to roll off the highway and into the soccer field near the access road.  The driver suffered major injuries, but none were considered to be life threatening.  The drivers of the Explorer and Canyon were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Investigation is still ongoing but the driver of the Ford Mustang may face criminal charges.

Corpus Christi Police responded to a call of a man down in the middle of the road at 14th and Coleman.  Officers arrived to find a 52-year-old male with multiple blunt force injuries to his head and face.  The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of severe head trauma.  The victim is still in ICU as of this date, with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers are continuing to follow-up on leads and the investigation is still ongoing.
