CORPUS CHRISTI AUTO THEFT TASK FORCE OFFERS FREE VIN ETCHING

The Corpus Christi Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force will be providing free VIN etching today, Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at 15100 Windward Drive.

VIN etching is an anti-theft deterrent to motor vehicle theft that involves etching a vehicle’s VIN onto every window to reduce the value of a stolen vehicle to thieves.  The Auto Theft Task Force has also created the attached safety tip brochure.

Police need your help finding this trailer

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help identifying the suspects who stole this trailer valued at over $10,000. The suspects are seen driving a Dodge Ram pickup onto the property. The suspect vehicle, which has a fifth wheel hitch, backs up to a dumpster style trailer. The suspects exit the vehicle and connect to the trailer and leave the property. The Dodge Ram pickup has an after market front and rear bumper.

Police Need Your Help Locating a Vehicle

Corpus Christi Police Detectives need your help locating a vehicle taken form a homicide scene at 11900 Mesa. The vehicle is a 2005 black Ford Expedition possibly with tinted windows. The license plate is a Texas LP displaying CHW7617 and has been reported stolen.

Alert Detectives Find Stolen Truck

Two alert Corpus Christi Police Auto Theft Detectives arrested a man after they saw him get into a stolen truck at the Stripes Store, located in the 3200 block of Buddy Lawrence Drive.

The Detectives recognized the truck as one that had been stolen from the front of a home in the 7200 block of The Mansions Drive back on February 6 even though the suspect had attempted to place a piece of black tape on one of the letters on the back license plate to alter its appearance.

When the Detectives saw the truck parked in front of the store, they waited until the suspect got in and that is when they took, Jose Alvarado Gutierrez Jr. (05/07/1982), into custody.

Inside the stolen 2002 Ford F150, Detectives found an Apple IPod that had been stolen from a vehicle on February 7.  They also found a HP Tablet computer that was stolen from a home on January 20.

In addition to the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge, the suspect was also arrested for theft.

ATV and Trailer Stolen From Storage Unit

Corpus Christi Police need your help in locating a stolen Kawasaki All-Terrain Vehicle that was taken from a storage unit located at 6630 Yorktown Boulevard.

The ATV was parked on a silver 16 foot flatbed trailer that was also taken by the suspects.

The owner told Officers that he parked the ATV and trailer in the storage unit on January 3rd and discovered on January 7, someone had pried the storage unit door open and taken the property.

Both the ATV and trailer are now listed as stolen.

The suspects in this case have not been identified, and detectives need your help in solving this crime.
