At approximately 12:39 am on Saturday, February 19, 2022, officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Bolivar Street reference a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 17-year-old male who had been shot. Responding officers administered life savings measures on scene until medic units arrived, at which point the male was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Through their investigation, Homicide Detectives followed up on several leads and were able to secure an arrest warrant for 17-year-old Michael Rodela for Murder.
At approximately 10:50 am on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Officers with the US Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from CCPD Patrol Officers, located and took Rodela into custody on the 3000 block of S Port. Rodela attempted to evade from officers on foot, he was additionally charged with Evading Arrest as a result.
Rodela was transported to the main police station to be interviewed, before being transported to the City Detention Center for processing.
