On Saturday May 14, 2022, at 12:36 pm officers were dispatched to 4300 Kostoryz for a welfare concern. When the officers arrived, they attempted to contact the occupants and when this was unsuccessful apartment staff were contacted to assist. The staff opened the apartment, and it was at this time that the officers located two deceased females.
Detectives with the Robbery Homicide Section of the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and quickly began to investigate the Capital Murder. As the investigation progressed the detectives were able to identify 37-year-old Jason Lara as the offender. Lara was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Nueces County for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm with a $50,000.00 bond.
On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Officers with the US Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from officers with our Organized Crime Unit, located Jason Lara on the 2100 block of Airline. Officers placed Lara in custody for the outstanding warrant, without incident. Detectives with the Corpus Christi Robbery Homicide Section were later able to secure a warrant for Capital Murder ($1,000,000.00 bond), which was served to Lara, while he was in custody at the Nueces County Jail.
