THREE AGGRAVATED ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED

At approximately 3:48 am on August 18, 2020, officers were dispatched to the 6000 block of S Padre Island Drive reference an Aggravated Robbery. Upon arrival, officers were advised that two Hispanic males had entered the location armed with a shotgun. The male with the shotgun fired one round inside the store and proceeded to take an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. The two then left the store in an unknown direction of travel.

At approximately 4:04 am, as officers were investigating the above robbery, officers were dispatched to a second Aggravated Robbery on the 200 block of NAS. Upon arrival, officers were advised that two Hispanic males matching the description from the first robbery entered the location. One of the males discharged a shotgun inside the store and the pair were able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

At approximately 4:19 am, as officers were still investigating the two above robberies, officers were dispatched to a third Aggravated Robbery on the 14000 block of S Padre Island Drive. Upon arrival, officers were advised that two Hispanic males matching the description from the first two robberies entered the store with a shotgun. One of the suspects smashed the glass countertop and the pair were able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspects were seen leaving the location in a white in color passenger car.

Shortly after the last Aggravated Robbery, an officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle near the area of the most recent robbery. Officers effected a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle and discovered that it was occupied by three individuals, a female driver and two male passengers.

The two male passengers matched the description involved in the three above noted Aggravated Robberies. Officers located an undisclosed amount of loose cash inside the vehicle, as well as loose shotgun shells.

17-year-old David Calvillo, 17-year-old Robert Flores and 17-year-old Haylee Hernandez were all arrested and charged with 3 counts of Aggravated Robbery (1F).

Prior to transporting the three suspects to the City Detention Center, officers discovered that Haylee Hernandez and Robert Flores have a 1-year-old child that was left at home with a juvenile family member. Officers arrived at the location where the children were at and located a total of four minor children who were left in the care of the couple. As a result, Haylee Hernandez and Robert Flores were additionally charged with Abandon/Endanger a Child with Intent to Return (SJF).

All three were transported to the City Detention Center for processing.

We commend our Patrol Officers for their keen observation and investigative skills. Their actions and performance resulted in the apprehension of violent offenders and we believe prevented additional robberies from occurring.
