UPDATE ON AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH DEADLY WEAPON

At approximately 5:41 pm on Saturday May 9, 2020, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Shoreline reference a shooting. When officers arrived, they found that a 6-year-old child had been shot, he was quickly transported to a hospital for treatment.

The responding officers determined that two vehicles were traveling northbound on shoreline when the suspect vehicle fired several rounds at the victim’s vehicle. In speaking to the driver of the victim vehicle, he was able to identify the shooter, as he was known to the driver. Patrol Officers along with Gang Unit Officers quickly began searching the city for the wanted offender as the Criminal Investigation Division Detectives secured a warrant for his arrest. The CID Detectives were able to secure a warrant for 35-year-old Arnold Angel Soto for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon with a $200,000 bond.

At approximately 11:15 pm Officers from our Gang Unit were able to apprehend Arnold Angel Soto, along with a juvenile male. Both were transported to the Corpus Christi Police Department to be interviewed by Detectives. At the conclusion of the interviews, both the adult and juvenile were charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Arnold Angel Soto was transported to the City Detention Center for processing and was later booked at the Nueces County Jail. The 16-year-old juvenile was transported and booked in at the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.
