Applications for the Corpus Christi Citizens Police Academy being accepted

Classes begin Wednesday, August 21 and will run for 13 weeks, meetings will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Participants will learn about the different aspects of the Corpus Christi Police Department and on the first day of class you’ll hear from Chief of Police Mike Markle.

Every Wednesday, a different Police Department division leader will speak to the group. Some of the topics will include a look at the department’s specialized units including SWAT, the Dive Team and Hostage Negotiation Team. The group will visit the police shooting range for a safety briefing and officers will assist members who want to shoot a police service pistol and patrol rifle. Participants will also go on a Patrol Ride-a-Long and meet the department’s K-9 Officers, who along with their handlers will demonstrate the different training techniques used in narcotics searches and arrests.

The program is a revealing look at the Corpus Christi Police Department and its officers. If you would like to attend, go to the link below and complete an application. This is a law enforcement sensitive class and State Law requires background checks. All applications must be notarized and emailed to Senior Officer Chris Lynch at chrisl@cctexas.com by Friday, July 5.

Employee family members may apply. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. For more information, contact Senior Officer Chris Lynch at 361-886-2563.
