Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 2800 SPID in reference to a theft in progress. Responding officers were advised that there were people chasing the suspects from the business. Officers arrived and observed several people holding a 16 year old male on the ground. Officers detained the suspect and contacted witnesses. The officers spoke to the 17 year old and 55 year old victims. The victims advised they were working at their business when three males approached, displayed guns, and demanded jewelry. The victims gave the suspects what they wanted and then the suspects fled from the business on foot. The victims chased the offenders and caught one, holding him for the police while the other two fled the scene. The victims were able to provide officers with the description of the other two suspects. Officers arrested the 16 year old male and transported him to the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center.

Offense: Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Corpus Christi Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 6000 Ayers in reference to a shooting. Information on the call stated that someone was shot and two suspects fled the scene. Officers arrived and observed a 23 year old male victim who had been shot. The victim advised he did not know the suspect who shot him. The victim reported that the offender also tried to steal his truck. The victim was transported to Spohn Shoreline for treatment of his injuries. There are no updates on the victims condition at this time. A witness reported that she saw two males in front of the store prior to hearing a gunshot. She was able to provide very detailed descriptions to the police. She reported that the suspects fled on foot towards a mobile home park.
Officers began searching the area of 5900 Ayers and observed one of the suspects. The officers chased the suspect on foot and were able to take him into custody. As they were chasing the suspect he threw a backpack which was recovered by the officers. A weapon was recovered at the scene. Officers arrested Leonard Reyna (11-3-1994) and continued their investigation.
Officers were in the area of 6100 Ayers checking for the second suspect. Officers were checking the area on foot and contacted a security guard who saw a suspect matching the description a few minutes earlier. Officers walked to the area the suspect was last seen. The officers observed a suspect matching the description talking on a cell phone. Officers contacted and arrested Carlos Moreno (9-21-1993). Both suspects were transported to the main police station for questioning and later booked into the City Detention Center.
Detectives are actively investigating these two events and checking to see if they are related.
