The City urges citizens to use caution when any person or business wants access to their home. Several reports have occurred this week regarding people posing as City employees requesting access inside citizen’s homes.
The Corpus Christi Police Department urges the citizens to take precautions against individuals posing as City employees asking for access inside their homes. City Utility employees are often working at different areas of the city and occasionally need to access the exterior portion of a residence. It is important to know that all procedures are performed outside and never inside a resident’s home.
The City of Corpus Christi reminds customers to always ask for identifying information from utility workers. City employees can provide the following:
- City Issued Identification: includes employee photograph, City logo and bar code
- City Vehicle: includes City logo and department information
- Uniform: includes City logo and employee name
Remember, City Utility employees work a variety of hours, both day and night. If you are unsure of work being done in your area, contact the City of Corpus Christi Customer Call Center at (361) 826-2489 (CITY). The Customer Call Center is open from 7 am to 7 pm.
If you cannot positively identify the City Utility employee, the City urges residents to call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at (361) 886-2600. If you believe it is an emergency, please call 911.
