Patrol Report 10/29/2014

The Corpus Christi Police Department generated 223 reports for formal criminal complaints from midnight October 28 to 7:00 a.m. on October 29, 2014. These are samples of the criminal complaints filed by the Corpus Christi Police for that time period.

 

“Charlie” District

Location: 4300 South Padre Island Drive West
Offense: Burglary of a Building

Corpus Christi Police were dispatched to a business located at 4340 S. Padre Island Dr. for a burglary.
The 52 year old female property manager for this vacant building said she noticed several breaker panels removed from inside the building and wires which had been cut away from the panels.
Inside the building, there were numerous breaker panels which had been gutted of copper wire. It appears the suspects made entry into the building from the roof in a back loading garage. After removing the wire the suspects exited the building through a door which had the interior lock disassembled.
The manager estimated the value of the wire and damage to the building to be about $20,000.

Offense: Burglary of a Coin Operated Machine

A 42 year old female business manager of the Greyhound Bus Station located at 702 N. Chaparral St. called Corpus Christi Police after she saw a man taking coins from the vending machine in the lobby.
The women said she heard a bunch of noise by the vending machines, and then saw a man stealing the cash from one of them. The male had taken out a power drill and was drilling a hole in the Coca Cola machine to get access to the cash inside. The male put his drill away, picked up his duffle bag, and then ran out with the manager running after him. The male dropped his duffle bag in the 600 block of Mesquite St. and the manager picked it up.
Officers went to the area and after a short search they found Clinton Daniels (08/06/1973) hiding in the area and arrested him. He was charged with burglary to a coin operated machine, a Class A misdemeanor. He was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony, when officers found two packages that contained methamphetamines in his duffle bag.
The amount of damage to the machines and the amount of money stolen was estimated to be about $300.

Offense: Driving While Intoxicated With a Child

    Corpus Christi Police responded to a two car crash in the 600 block of Lipan St. and found a female had driven her 2009 Honda truck into the rear of a 2008 Toyota truck that was stopped at a red light.
Officers found the female driver of the Honda had her two children, an 11 year old male and a 4 year old female, inside her vehicle and after an investigation it was determined that she was intoxicated. The female was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, a state jail felony, and her vehicle was impounded.
There was only minor damage to both vehicles and no one was injured in the crash.
The two children were released into the custody of a family friend.
