Bleeding Stranger Found Passed Out on Hood of Car

Occurred on 8/22/12, 12:55 am Public Intoxication 4306 Nicholson  1208220009 

Police received a call for a man passed out on the hood the complainant’s car.  Officers found the man had urinated on himself and bleeding from a wound to his lower back.  Erik DeAses became belligerent and argumentative; demanding to be left alone.  

After a short struggle DeAses was handcuffed allowing CCFD Emergency Personnel to medically evaluate him.  Once at Spohn Memorial for medical clearance, DeAses continued to be combative and spit out the window as he growled at people in the parking lot. 

While the Officer was working on his paperwork, DeAses spit at the Officer, striking him in the back of head and neck.  The suspect was asked to stop spitting, but he kept spitting until pepper sprayed. 

DeAses was booked at the City Detention Center and charged with Public Intoxication and Resisting Arrest.  He was additionally charged with and Harassment by Person in Correctional Facility which is a 3rd Felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
